Petra

 Petra:

Vast red mountains with tombs belonging to an unknown race do not coincide with modern civilisation. All they ask is to be appreciated by people for being one of the greatest constructions ever created by nature and man. This guide can try to explain as much as possible about this amazing place but with Petra, it has to be seen to be believed. This said Petra is obviously Jordan’s biggest tourist attraction and actually a worldwide wonder. It is a very extensive and special city to visit. It was carved into the rock face more than 2000 years ago which turned it into an important focal point for trade such as silk and spice that linked it to many countries such as China, India and Greece. Upon entering the city, the fascinating experience starts when entering a 1km long gauge enclosed by towering cliffs 80m high. The colours that flood your mind are incredible before you catch a sight of Al-Khazneh at the end of it. The treasury one of the many beautiful sights that Petra has to offer is a place of outstanding natural beauty and some quite astonishing architecture. You will find near 500 rock carved tombs that have some unique carvings. They were built to also last the afterlife which is rather on the other end of the spectrum compared to the houses destroyed by earthquakes. You will also find here a Roman-style amphitheatre seating 3,000 which is worth some pictures. You will certainly not be disappointed by what Petra has to offer and the fantastic beauty in which it beholds.

Petra by Night

No visit to Petra is complete without fulfilling the experience of Petra by Night. It is a fascinating and beautiful way to experience the candle lit walls and explore the old city and the rock that engulfs it. The city and Petra by Night tour has become an international sight to see with many people who visit Jordan visiting the city and going on the tour. You will have to either go on the tour on a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday, as these are the nights of the week that the tour runs on. It all starts at 8.30pm at the visitors centre in which you will return too approximately 2 hours later. To begin with you will walk the whole Siq (which is a small canyon to) to the Treasury which is lit by over 1,000 candles bringing the whole experience to a new level with an atmosphere and views that you will have never of experienced before. Upon reaching the Treasury you will be asked if you could take a seat and listen to the local Jordanian music played by Bedouins. Just when you believe the lovely music has finished you will be pleasantly surprised at what is next. Afterwards you will learn a little about the history of the past and be informed of some cultural information which is very interesting to learn about. The experience is then complete with some traditional mint tea to warm you up and treasure your journey you have been taken on.
